Herringbone was born out of a love of beautiful fabrics, and of making beautiful things from them. Originally set up by Clare Herrington in 2014 as a dressmaking shop, Herringbone has evolved over the years and now supplies dressmaking and quilting fabrics, sewing patterns and haberdashery.
Herringbone is a family business, owned and run by Sarah and Luke Honeychurch. Sarah gets to hang out with the fabric all day and is the one you will see if you pop into the shop, while Luke takes care of all of the mysterious computer stuff that keeps the business running smoothly and the website working properly.
We have worked hard to make a space that is welcoming and friendly, where you are greeted with a warm ‘hello’ and a smile and are allowed to browse to your heart’s content. Our aim is to get people excited about making things themselves, and to inspire and give people the confidence to take on new projects. We have a wide variety of workshops and courses taking place throughout the year, so make sure to take a look if you’d like to learn a new skill or have some fun being creative.
We like to have an ever-changing supply of fabrics in the shop to keep sparking people’s imaginations, alongside a core range of useful basics. Sarah is also a bit of a fabric magpie, and likes to source beautiful and unique vintage fabrics that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
We also like to support other independent businesses and are proud to stock sewing patterns from Merchant and Mills, Grainline Studio, Colette and many others. Vogue and Butterick pattern books are also available to browse through, and individual patterns can be ordered in as needed.
Come say hello!
